I'm not a Superwoman, or am I? Maybe a Christmas Superwoman, after I learnt a few lessons this season.
Last minute shopping, Christmas tree decoration, loads of cakes to bake and greeting cards to send out. If you are in same shoes as I am, I'm sure you're wondering when you'd ever get some 'Me' time. The last time I checked, I've been sleeping for a little less than four hours every night. So much to do, so little time to fit them all. An exercise regime and cosmetics to the rescue! Well, that was until I bruised my thigh really bad in the process and learnt the tough lesson of delegating activities. Now, you don't really have to be like me, acting all Superwoman-like and wanting to lift all those heavy boxes or re-decorating yourself.
Truth is, a real Superwoman knows when to delegate and prioritize. Yeah, a Superwoman knows that after all the board meetings, cooking, baking, shopping, sending of greeting cards and tree decoration, she'd be too exhausted to be a gracious and beautiful hostess.
Vendors to the rescue! On your scale of priorities, there'd likely be some activities that someone else can do as well as you, if not even better. Please delegate those activities, so you can have enough time to refresh your mind, have a massage, get some beauty sleep and prepare for all the special people in your life who would spend precious moments with you this season.
Remember, perfection isn't found in getting all the activities right, but in making everyone who crosses your doorstep feel like they're the most important people in the world. It's that time you've been looking forward to; a time to put all your poise and graciousness to test. I believe it's beautiful when you host people because you genuinely enjoy their company. So, have loads of fun putting your best foot forward this season, as we all let our hair down and indulge in some Super-womanly time with family and friends. As for me, I hope my thigh would heal fast enough for me to rock those heels I've been saving for this special dinner. (wink) See you all on Christmas day! XOXO
